Large-scale Russian Attacks Disrupt Electricity In Kyiv

Energy infrastructure targeted in the region
The country's power facilities have come under increased strikes in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in blackouts in multiple districts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were wounded while inhabitants in eastern districts were experienced blackouts and encountered interruptions to water systems, according to city officials.

Simultaneously, a minor was fatally injured in a different aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, as reported by local officials.

Moscow has escalated attacks on energy facilities over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "real steps" from partner nations to increase pressure on Russia.

"The necessity is not symbolic gestures but decisive action - from the US, European nations and the G7 - in delivering protection systems and implementing sanctions," he wrote in a online statement.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 rockets attacked energy facilities, describing such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were striving to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes struck energy infrastructure and civilian homes in the capital.

Five out of the nine people injured in the attacks on the city have been taken to hospital, according to municipal representatives.

Area administrators said the city endured significant strikes overnight. A seven-year-old child lost their life and several individuals were wounded.

The assaults come after periods of bombing campaigns in the territory, sections of which are occupied by Russian forces.

All of Ukraine is in a state of readiness for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are more difficult to spot.

National leaders told journalists that Moscow was purposely seeking to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already disrupting energy systems.

He said technical personnel and government agencies were anticipating additional strikes.
